About
About Peter Lyons
My name is Peter Lyons, and my work is deeply autobiographical, reflecting my journey of recovery from alcoholism. For ten years, I was a member of a therapeutic community, a period that profoundly shaped my life and my art.
During this time, I pursued academic studies, completing a BA and MA at the University of the West of England (UWE).

Evolution of My Art
At UWE, I initially explored film as a medium under the guidance of my mentors. However, after graduating, I rediscovered my passion for painting. This medium allows me to connect with my roots and express myself in ways that words cannot.
Painting makes me feel grounded and gives me a voice through non-verbal language, enabling me to convey my innermost thoughts and emotions.
Curatorial and Collaborative Work
Post-graduation, I have been actively involved in the art community in Bristol. In a curatorial role, I have collaborated with a group of talented artists, organizing several exhibitions around the city.
These experiences have not only enriched my own work but have also allowed me to contribute to the collective growth of our artistic community.
My Artistic Philosophy
Art, for me, is a therapeutic and transformative process. It is a way to navigate my personal journey, explore my identity, and connect with others on a profound level.
I believe in the power of art to heal, inspire, and bring about change, both within the artist and in the wider community.
Looking Ahead
I am currently preparing for my solo show scheduled for mid-August. This exhibition will feature a selection of my latest works and is a significant milestone in my artistic journey.
I am always looking for new opportunities to collaborate, create, and share my art with a broader audience.
